Cruise Countdown!

I am sure this sounds silly, but I am a little jealous of myself....so try not to feel bad when you start getting jealous of me :) We are going on a cruise for our 1 year anniversary in December! The current countdown is 24 days to go! We fly out of Salt Lake to Miami on Dec. 13th and our cruise leaves the next day. It's a 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise that ports at the Bahamas, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas. I am even more excited because this time we are cruising with 3 other couples. I have never been to Florida either, so I am happy that we are staying there for a night before and a night after the cruise. I will most definitely post tons of pictures after we get back (just to make you sufficiently jealous)!

Ben's Birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEN!
Ben just turned 27 on the 13th of November. We went over to my mom and dad's house for an early birthday (where this pic was taken) on Monday. I love this fake half smile picture...wow :). He got some pretty sweet games for our Wii and tons of clothes. I hope you had a good birthday...I love you Ben!

Halloween

So I stole this picture from my sister-in-law Kelli's blog...hope you don't mind Kel:) This is my family on Halloween...well part of my family. The top row is my sister Michelle, my brother Matt, my mom Julie, and me. The bottom row is my neice Marisa, my nephew Dylan, my sister Katie and my baby sister Kelsey. I went trick or treating with my sisters and my neice and nephew and ended up carrying Marisa for half of it! It was a pretty fun Halloween but I wish Ben hadn't been working that night. Happy Halloween!

Old Navy Denim

So as many of you know, I work at Old Navy a couple times a week and now that my friend heard a commercial for the sale on Saturday on the radio, I guess it's ok to talk about. This Saturday, August 23rd there is going to be a huge sale on most Old Navy denim! Men's and Women's denim will be $12 a pair and Kid's denim will be $7 a pair! Way great, I know. They are saying it's a limit of 3 per person but I think if you have kids with you, they will count them in your limit. Lame example here...Ok say I went shopping with my little sisters Katie and Kelsey, I would be able to buy 9 pairs because 3 people at 3 per person (3x3=9!). Anyway... I just thought I would let ya'll know about it and hopefully it won't be too crazy that day! As far as I know, this sale is at all Old Navy's. We open at 9 AM on Saturday. Have fun shopping!

Lime Ricki

So I found this fun site called LimeRicki.com and I love their cute mix of fabrics! Plus the swim tops are long so they don't ride up and make the suit uncomfortable. The one I got is called "Greta". I love the tie in the back-so fun! They are pretty reasonably priced as well and they are here in Utah so I got my swimsuit in the mail the next day! I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

One Hundred Push-ups

I was "blog stalking" and I found this cool challenge...

I read the plan and decided to go for it. When I told Ben about it, he decided that we should do it together! So it is now week 2 of 6 and I know this will sound lame, but I am already feeling stronger. I love push-ups because they strengthen not only your upper body (shoulders, chest, arms etc.) but also your entire core! My abs are definitely working when I do these. It starts with a test just to see where you are at and then gives you a plan accordingly. The goal at the end of the 6 weeks is to be able to do 100 consecutive push-ups. I started at 21 so hopefully I will be able to do the full 100 in 5 more weeks!

Picnik

So I played a little bit with a site called picnik.com and here is what I came up with:

I thought it looked pretty cool and it's actually really easy to do. I definitely need more practice though... Let me know if you know of other cool sites that help you edit photos.

Another milestone...2 years!

So it has officially been 2 years since I met Ben--and not to sound like a broken record, but the past 2 years have seriously flown by! The first time I met Ben was at my sister-in-law Kelli's softball game... thanks Kelli! It was sort of a group blind date....ish...thing. We knew that there were 3 guys coming to hang out and we had 3 girls including me and then my brother Matt and sister-in-law Kelli. As we were driving to meet the boys we found out that there were 2 guys named Micah and one guy named Ben. One of the girls was getting set up with one of the Micah's and the other girl and I got to choose which one we wanted...so to speak. I said that I had already dated 2 Ben's so I would go with the one named Ben.
When the boys introduced themselves, apparently I didn't tell Ben what my name was and he thought that I was a little stuck up! I still feel bad for that one. (Although in my defense, I remember that I just said my name once as to introduce myself to all 3 of them at the same time). As we walked to the cars to go to dinner, I found out that he was 24 and he found out that I was only 18! My mom flipped a little on that one... Luckily I turned 19 a couple weeks later. We went to dinner at Iggy's Sports Grill...which is pretty good and we have gone back to the same one a few times since then.
The last thing we did that night was bowling... I don't remember where it was...probably somewhere in West Jordan and I'm sure Ben could tell me, but we went bowling and I won! I don't just mean that I beat Ben, but I beat everyone! I am bragging a little, sorry... I thought it was pretty cool though. We also played a little pool at the bowling alley. To end the night, as I posted in the one right before this, I gave Ben my number and he texted me right away to see if it was my real phone number :). I sort of thought that he was a player and probably wouldn't ever call me, but a week later we went out again...and obviously that wasn't the last time. With Ben's, the 3rd time was the charm!

Happy 7 Months!

Can you believe it? We have been married for 7 months now! I feel like the last 7 months have flown by. Even though I probably should have done this on the typical 6 month mark...oops!...here it goes.

Things I love about Ben

We both love (good) Thai food and he
pretends to like it when I attempt to cook it.

I can totally tell if he's lying because he gets this hillarious look on his face.

He is my brain...If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be to half the things that I am supposed to
He wants to go to as many temples as possible.

He always knows the answers
to my questions.

He texted me right after I gave him
my number to see if
it was real :)

He has more confidence in me than I do.

He loves anything sugar.
Anything.

He tells me that I look cute--even when I don't.

He likes the same music as me...we jam out.

He is always willing to help me.

He likes to cuddle.

He lets me
steal the covers.

He lets me pick the movie.

He explains things to me when I have a blonde moment or two.

He washes my car. :)

He remembers the little things that I like.

He lets me buy shoes.

He does the laundry and the
dishes and cleans the apartment... I do it too
but it's definitely nice to have help.

He wants a scooter...haha.

He is going to be the cutest dad ever (not any time soon) because he loves to be one of the kids. He even ripped my parents' tramp...

He lets me decorate the apartment with lots of girly stuff.
He is dang hot!

He is my best friend.

I love you Ben...Happy 7 months and many more!

Cosmetology

As some of you know, I have decided to go to hair school--the only decision I had left to make was when to go. I was contemplating starting in August, but was really unsure about it until yesterday... January 20th 2009 will be my first day and I am already pretty dang excited! Hopefully all of you will trust me enough to cut or color your hair so I can get tons of practice. I will be learning cutting, styling, coloring, perming etc on hair and also eyelash extensions, pedicures, manicures, and glitter toes!! I am way stoked....if you couldn't tell. Wish me luck!

Scrapbooking and Card-making

So I love to scrapbook and make cards and I am super grateful that I have an awesome mom who started a way cool scrapbook supply site(and now has a blog too!). It's CropandStick.com and has really cheap and super cute stuff for all your favorite crafts. She also can hold stuff for you at her house for pick-up if you live close to American Fork and don't want to pay shipping! This is my favorite stamp set from their site. I love that you can pick whatever stem you want and whatever top of the flower you want to mix and match! Very cute set! She has plenty of other stuff for you to check out... I love it all way too much!

Cruise

So this is us on our honeymoon cruise to Mexico! These are the couples we sat with. Unfortunately I am totally getting old and can't remember the names of the couple on the far left...woops, but the couple in the middle's names are Mark and Cynthia. I was a little nervous when we got our table assignments because you never know who they will have you sit by, but we actually got really cool couples at our table. I will post more pictures of the honeymoon in a later post...

December 8 2007-The Beginning

This picture was taken right after we exited the temple. All of our family and friends were standing around yelling "kiss her!". I like how the picture turned out so thanks all you crazy people we love :)
This is our wedding cake. In case you didn't know, the H on the top is for Hughes, our last name.
Another kissing picture. The crowd had left by then and now it was just our photographer and a few family members yelling it.
From left to right, the kids are my sister Kelsey, my nephew Dylan, my niece Marisa, and my sister Katie. This is the shot where we had the most people looking at the camera.
Holding hands on the temple doorknob...cheesy but someone's gotta do it. My flowers were awesome, they had these crazy spiral rhinestones coming out all over. I loved it.
This was honestly the best day of my life. I got to marry the person that I love more than anything and I will be with him forever. Thank you to everyone who made this day as special as it was for us! Love you Ben!

Blog...

So here is our little blog. I have never done a blog before, but tons of people have them so they can't be too hard, right? Hopefully I can figure it out.
